Free Wallpaper June 30th 2007

June 30th, 2007 by 2xKnight

Come and get it, free wallpaper. This is the wallpaper I’ve been using for a little while. I made it while trying to come up with a background for this site. I used the smaller one in .png format and set it to stretched, but for this post I resized it so it’s easier to install. Use them if you want.

I converted it to .bmp too, but wordpress won’t upload those. Too big I’m guessing. These are all .png, I’ll try to get the .bmp up later.

Amazing plot twist at Scary Go Round.

June 28th, 2007 by 2xKnight

Scary Go Round, by John Allison, is one of my favorite webcomics. Today he revealed a plot twist on par with any Jedi’s genealogy. I’m not going to spoil it for you by posting a link to today’s comic. I will post a link to the first one.

Scary Go Round puts a group of friends through strange adventures, often with a paranormal theme. It’s a lot of fun. I would imagine Scooby Doo would have been a lot like this if it had been made in England. Except most of the creepy crawlies here aren’t wearing masks.

If you haven’t read it, you should do yourself a favor and read through the archives.  It’ll take you a little while, this comic has been around for several years. That’s a good thing, more comic goodness to enjoy. Oh, and don’t be frightened off by the art in the beginning. Like a lot of webcomics John improves his craft over time. He develops a very eye catching style over the course of Scary Go Round’s life.

I envy those of you who will be reading the Zombie Shelly story line for the first time.

 Read Scary Go Round here.

Comic book urban legends.

June 25th, 2007 by 2xKnight

Found a great site.  It’s a comic blog, but the best part about it is the urban legends section. There is some great stuff there. I’ve been reading it off and on for a couple days now and I’m amazed at some of this stuff.

If you are now, or have ever been, a fan of comics you have to check this out.

Who couldn’t use a new monitor?

June 18th, 2007 by 2xKnight

John Chow is giving away a nice wide screen monitor. All you have to do to enter is pimp the contest like I’m doing right now. What’s a little bit of integrity and self respect compared to a brand spankin’ new LCD?

It’s sponsored by BlueFur.com. They’re hosting Canada. I know the stereotype is that there’s not much in Canada, but that still must take up a lot of room on the server. I mean c’mon, hosting an entire nation? That takes balls. Blue furry ones apparently.

Check it out. Who knows, maybe you can sell the monitor and make money.

AFO contest.

June 16th, 2007 by 2xKnight

Just a little heads up.  Starting Monday Anime Fans Online will be running a contest. The prize is a $50 gift certificate to J-Box.  Check the site on Monday to get all the details.

Eureka is coming back.

June 15th, 2007 by 2xKnight

I’m happy to see that the Sci Fi Channel show Eureka is coming back for a second season. It’s gonna be back July 10th at 9 p.m. I was afraid it would be cancelled. The Sci Fi Channel has a tendency to cancel it’s good shows to make room for more Stargate.

I’m looking forward to more news about the second season.

Update: Now that the second season is on I’ve written up my first impressions.

OtakuUSA

June 14th, 2007 by 2xKnight

I just wrote up a short review of OtakuUSA for animefansonline.com, it should be posted in about an hour. (It’s up now, been up for a while)

Check out OtakuUSA. It’s a good anime/manga magazine.

ViralTags

June 10th, 2007 by 2xKnight

ViralTags is something like ViraLink, except you get to use words instead of stars. In another attempt to build traffic, or at least backlinks, I’m adding this one too.

Update July 15th 2007:

I’ve removed ViralTags. To see why please read this post about the harm viral linking can to to your site.

Update on ViraLink and ViralTags.

Update August 7th:
After getting a comment asking for proof, I replied by posting this link to an article about reciprocal linking. It uses real estate sites as an example, but it could apply to viral linking as well. I thought I’d go ahead and add it to the relevant posts for those who may not read the comments.

Here’s what Google says about it. Link schemes policy.
