King of the impossible.

Flash (Ah-aah) Gordon has come to TV. I missed the first episode. I admit, I screwed up. I thought it was going to be next week. I did manage to see the first half hour on SciFi.com. Can’t tell too much from that. It’s just an introduction for Flash (Ah-aah) and Dale. It ends as soon as something interesting happens.
This show could be very good or very bad. I’m hoping for the first, but kind of expecting the second. Of course there’s no guarantee that it’ll be around long, even if it is a great show. It is on the Sci Fi channel after all.
Flash (Ah-aah) Gordon will need a pretty tricky balance of humor, action and drama. This show should have a bit of everything to live up to the iconic character. The character is an icon. Flash (Ah-aah) represents old school pulp magazine sci-fi. When men were men, women were women and aliens were merciless.

“Could I be any more Evil?”
- - Chandler Ming.
Speaking of which, Ming the Merciless is an icon in his own right. The alien overlord, bent on destruction of Earth. A conquering empire under his rule. Ming should be evil, powerful and merciless. I mean, c’mon, it’s in his name. Please don’t make him a quippy villain. Please, please, Sci Fi, get it right. Nothing could kill the show faster than a Chandler Ming. Except maybe your executives. I didn’t get to see Ming, I’m hoping to find the other half of the show of Youtube or Veoh.
Even if the show does go horribly wrong, I can still turn to a great Flash (Ah-aah) Gordon movie. It’s been re-released in a special edition DVD. I loved that movie. The theme song by Queen is unbelievably good. Sci Fi had enough sense to know that, they’ve been using it in the commercials for the TV show. They even have a contest about it. Sing the anthem and upload it and you could be in a commercial for the show.
I’m off to scour the net for the second half of the pilot.

It’s amazing all the stuff they have on tv these days.
Isn’t it? I suppose that’s a good thing. We have more options now when we want to watch TV.
