I got a very good comment from Marc on a previous post about Battlestar Galactica theories. I just had to point it out for those who may have already read that post.

I’d also like to invite you to share your ideas about BSG. Final cylon predictions, theories about Earth or anything else you think might (or should) happen.

I’ll hide the full post to keep it spoiler safe. There could be a lot of speculation flying around.

Last warning, there probably will be spoilers.

Now, check out this theory about the final cylon…

Marc Witham writes:

Here is my theory. It doesnt have a great amount of evidence but I do see some.

Ron Moore said that the final cylon was not in the season four promotional poster.

http://www.salon.com/…/2008/04/02/bsg_explainer/index4.html

http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20169703,00.html

The last cylon may be Ellen Tigh.

Looking at the final four who are with the fleet, all but one of them had a fling with another cylon without knowing it.

Tyrol with Boomer and Anders with Tory Foster (presidential aide) with each other.

Kind of as if they were unconsciously attracted to each other.

If Ellen Tigh were the last cylon that would complete that pattern.

Then there is how Ellen entered the story line.

She had no memory of being put on a vessel and was found after being unconscious for two weeks. Very suspicious.

Adama and the president (I think) had their doubts. At the end of that episode, Number 6 asks Baltar if Ellen really did pass his Cylon detector. Answering with a smirk, he said ‘I’ll never tell’.

One downside is that I know of no instance when #3 and Ellen were in a scene together. Remember that #3 saw the final cylon and said ‘I’m sorry, I didnt know.’

I welcome your comments

Marc

That’s a pretty good theory. I haven’t heard that one before. I’m sure we all suspected her when she first showed up, but how many of us would still suspect her?

Thanks once again for sharing that with us Marc.

I still have tons of stuff to get done, like my Space Ghost stuff. I still need to write up a couple of blog posts to go up automatically. Just in case I can’t write up anything while I’m there. Yep, lot of stuff to get done. I’m excited that it’s almost here though.

Things are being switched around in the hotels. Since the Marriott is undergoing construction the dealers room has been moved to the Hilton. That sucks for me because I’m staying in the Hyatt. That’s a long walk. It’s made even longer since they’re closing the street between the Hyatt and Marriott to foot traffic at “peak hours”. So I won’t be hitting the dealers room nearly as much this year. That could be a good thing, maybe I won’t spend as much money.

Fewer trips to the dealer’s room should free up some time for me to get more pictures. I need to get a few shots of cosplayers for Anime Fans Online. I also need to see if there are any good anime events scheduled. I know there’s an AMV contest, but I’m not sure how I’d write up a post about that. I just hope they set up a site with the winners I can link to.

Looks like there are some great guest this year too. Here a few people that are supposed to be there.

A few of the scheduled guests.

Just a few of the guests I’m looking forward to seeing.

Jamie Bamber & Richard Hatch Wooo! Both Apollos!

James Marsters

James & Oliver Phelps Can’t wait to hear what the twins think of Deathly Hallows.

Matthew Lewis Ditto for Neville.

Claudia Black

Gil Gerard & Erin Gray

Jason Hawes & Grant Wilson

You can never tell when someone will have to cancel, like these folks did.

Cancellations.

Sean Astin

Mary Jo Putney

Jeff Austin

Lance Henriksen

Stolen Babies

Virginia Hey

Teresa Patterson

Richard Epcar

Jan Osburg

Crab Scrambly

Katee Sackhoff

Too bad Starbuck won’t be there. That means both Apollos will be there, and both Starbucks won’t.

…wait for the cylons to destroy them?
Not a frakin’ option.

Update:
Come check out the newest post and discuss your Battlestar Galactica theories.

With all the talk about Battlestar Galactica ending, I’ve been thinking about how it might wrap up. It’s one of the best science fiction shows on TV. I’m hoping that the ending will live up to what we’ve seen so far. It’s a tricky business making Galatica’s ending as great as the show has been but I have some theories on how it might be done.

Earth, the final frontier.

The fleet will find Earth, that’s no theory, but what Earth will they find? I very much doubt it’ll be a present day Earth. That’s what the original show did. And lo, the fans looked upon it and it was lame. I don’t think this show will make the same mistake.

If it’s not the Earth as we know it, what will it be? There are two possibilities that I see.

It’s a future Earth, with the technology to help protect them from the cylons or a future Earth that’s dead. Yep, a barren dust ball. We’ve already destroyed ourselves, the cylons are too late.

Prehistoric Earth, the lost colony couldn’t make it. Either they never made it to Earth or they died out. All the fleet finds is a wild untamed planet.

Viper Squad T-Shirt @ SplitReason.com

Now, if the fleet finds either uninhabited Earth what are they gonna do? Stop there and wait for the cylons to destroy them? Not a frakin’ option. Keep going and hope they find someone who can help them? Nope, Edward James Olmos was cast as Adama, not Kate Mulgrew. They will make their stand. The fleet will colonize Earth. They will become the thirteenth coloney. This is why I’m leaning towards the prehistoric Earth theory. I believe we’ll find out that we are the descendants of the fleet.

What are your theories?

Why does that scare me so?

The short answer would be Enterprise.

Now for the long answer.

In the last few years a lot of stuff has been “reimagined”. A lot of it has been sci-fi and horror, with a few tv shows and classic movies thrown in for flavor. Very little of it has been any good at all. Sure, there are exceptions like Battlestar Galactica, but 90% or so has been horrible.

Why do things need to be reimagined in the first place? Is it to make money? Probably, but wouldn’t it be cheaper to just re-release the older stuff? Maybe spend a little to clean up and “digitaly remaster” the original. After that the cash flow would be mostly profit. You wouldn’t even need to make $70 million on the opening weekend to be a success.

Could it be that the people involved think they can do better? That’s insulting. A lot of the stuff getting this kind of treatment have a lot of fans. Ask a fan of horror movies what the top 10 of all time are. More than likely Texas Chainsaw Massacre will be in there somewhere. Follow that up with “Oh yeah, Jessica Biel was good in that” if you want to get a beating.

In a few years I expect to see a reimagining of Harry Potter. It might go something like this…

Harry is a low level thug in some British street gang. He hates himself for being a criminal, but it’s the only life he knows. When he gets arrested for some petty crime, he gets questioned by some serious government agents. Turns out the abusive alcoholic and the crackhead prostitute who raised him aren’t really his aunt and uncle. He’d been abducted as a child to keep his parents from testifying against the head of the gang at that time. When that didn’t work Voldemort just killed ‘em. Voldemort was injured in the gunfight with the Potters when a stray bullet hit a propane tank. The safe house they were in went up in a ball of flame, killing the Potters and burning Voldemort beyond recognition. The cops assumed he was dead, but now he’s back and he’s looking for revenge. Harry tries to stay alive long enough to kill the man that destroyed his life, while working with those he was raised not to trust, the law. An action packed thriller, filled with murder and betrayal.

Yeah, sounds magical.

Feel free to reimagine this on your blog. A link back would be nice.

175 days to Dragon*Con

I was just looking at the Dragon*Con site. A few guests are already listed, and a couple caught my eye.

It appears that both Apollo and Starbuck from the new Battlestar Galactica may be there. Katee Sackhoff and Jamie Bamber are listed as guests. Richard Hatch isn’t listed, yet, but I have a feeling he’ll be there. Old school Apollo has been there several times. With all the unexpected twists that the new Battlestar Glactica has been throwing at us there should be a lot for them to talk about. That should be a great panel to go to.

Fans of the Harry Potter movies will be happy to see a few familiar faces as well. Neville (Matthew Lewis) and The Twins (James and Oliver Phelps) are on the guest list. I’m kinda skeptical. With all the work they’ll be doin’ over the next few years filming the movies, chances of scheduling conflicts seem pretty high to me.

As always it looks like some great guests are going to be there, and I can’t wait to see who else is added to the list.

If you haven’t been to Dragon*Con check out the site. www.dragoncon.org
