Since I’m such a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel and all other stuff Joss Whedon, I often read the novels that others write based on the characters from those shows. I read the graphic novels as well, but this isn’t about those, which are generally written by Joss himself.

The novels I’m talking about are written by other authors who will remain nameless, only cause I can’t remember their names. That’s not exactly true, I remember some of their names, but I’m not sharing. That’s mostly cause I’m gonna say some not nice stuff and I don’t want to actually direct it towards any innocent people. If you really want to know who they are, go look them up.

Fine. I guess I can’t ignore it anymore. A couple of days ago, Joss Whedon posted a blog - available to read in its entirety here at Whedonesque - which discusses Dollhouse. I wanted to just ignore it in the hopes that it would go away. Like, if I close my eyes, you can’t see me. That sort of thing. Unfortunately, its all true and its not going anywhere.

I recently watched through all seven seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, again, and I wrote a little bit about it in my watchingcw.com blog, which you can go read, if you’re interested. I occasionally blog about Buffy-related stuff in my CW blog, cause Buffy was on the WB and UPN, which eventually merged (although, after BtVSwas off the air) into the CW. I know it’s a stretch, but I have to write about something over there, don’t I?

In any case, one of the extras on the last Season 7 DVD is Joss Whedon’s top ten favorite Buffy eps. It got me to thinking, cause I never can decide which are my absolute faves. It’s so hard to narrow it down. But if Joss can do it, I should be able to, right?

Anyway, here’s Joss’s list:

10. Prophecy Girl - S1, E12
9. Conversations with Dead People - S7, E7
8. Restless - S4, E22
7. Becoming, Part 2 - S2, E22
6. The Wish - S3, E9
5. Dopplegangland - S3, E16
4. The Body - S5, E16
3. Hush - S4, E10
2. Once More With Feeling - S6, E7
1. Innocence - S2, E 14

I was a little surprised by some of his choices, but others were more obvious. I’m almost certain that “Once More With Feeling” would end up at number 2 on my list, as well. I’ll give it some thought, and get back to you about my faves.

Neil Patrick HarrisI’ve seen all three Acts of Doctor Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. I was away on vacation this past week, so it was kinda bad timing, but I worked it out. As for Dr. Horrible, I loved it. I totally, totally loved it. And I don’t think it’s just cause of Joss Whedon. I mean, I think it’s good because of Joss, but I think I loved it cause it was just so good.

The ending wasn’t what I expected, but I’m not gonna give it away, cause you still have a couple of hours to go see it for free at www.drhorrible.com, (or use the links at www.doctorhorrible.net, if the other site is down). If you don’t get the chance to see it for free, then go download the whole thing at iTunes for $3.99. You will enjoy it, I promise. Somehow, as I started watching, I was envisioning more and more episodes of the same sort of thing, the evil Dr. Horrible, plotting to join the Evil League of Evil, thwarted at every turn by his arch nemesis, Captain Hammer, and always pining for his dream girl, Penny. I guess that’s not gonna happen, but still, I’ll take more, no matter what does happen. I’ve also got to say that I’m really gaining an appreciation for Neil Patrick Harris as an actor.

Sorry I didn’t get this to you yesterday, but we were actually traveling, and then when I tried to log into the doctorhorrible.com website to watch Act 1 of Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, the site was continually down. Very frustrating. So after messing around with that for an hour or two, I just went to iTunes and purchased the whole thing for $3.99 (it was $1.99 per Act and I know I’m gonna want them all). Its so worth it, if the first installment is anything to go by.

I loved it!! So my advice to you is to forget dealing with trying to watch for free. Just go buy it. You’re gonna want to anyway. I just bought it last night and I’ve probably only seen it like a dozen times, is all.

There’s another new Joss Whedon project in the works. A thriller movie, The Cabin In the Woods, which was green-lighted by MGM, and is co-written by Drew Goddard!! Can life get any better than this? This is the first movie to get the nod from new MGM studio head, Mary Parent, who is, as I understand it, a big fan of Joss. So that’s really lucky for the rest of us.

Mary Parent had this to say about the new movie, ” Not surprisingly, Cabin is one of the most original and clever scripts I’ve ever read.”
