With all the time that Dragon Con sucked up in the last month or so I almost forgot about Guild Wars. More specifically, I almost forgot about Guild Wars: Eye of the North. It’s the first expansion as well as the last product to be released for Guild Wars. After this we’ll have to wait for Guild Wars 2.
To be perfectly honest, I was leaning towards skipping this one. Nothing I’d heard about the game before the release made me want to buy it. The game itself was never what had my interest. What I’m hoping for is the resolution to one little dead end quest. I want to find out more about one very minor character from the very beginning of the very first game.
I want to know what happened to Gwen.
After seeing that video I think I’m gonna have to buy it. That seems to be proof that Gwen will finally make her return. There are other clues, Just look at how ArenaNet abbreviates the game title.
Guild Wars: Eye of the North.
Abbreviation used by ArenaNet.
That alone sparked a handful of threads on Guild Wars forums. It’s really no surprise either. Gwen has been one of the more beloved characters since beta testing. Well, beloved to some. There are players who are downright sick of Gwen. I can’t really blame them either.
There have been a few hoaxes involving the possible location of this character. Stories about how to find her. Stories about how she would return some day. Will she be a Hero? Will she be a villain? Is she still alive at all or is she in the Underworld? There are so many questions surrounding her. I’m not surprised that some players are sick and tired of all the speculation.
You have to hand it to Anet though. They recognized the mystery. They fanned the flames bit by bit with clues. They held back on giving any real answers. They’ve managed to take an ordinary NPC and make her a legendary figure in the story of Tyria.

JJ Abrams is playing mind games with his fans again. Setting up web sites to argue back and forth over some crappy Lovecraft prophecy ripoff. Yes, more flash puzzles, faked site hacks and confusing videos abound. Swirling around in this mess is a new movie, known only at this time as Cloverfield.
Here’s the mysterious(spooky music) movie trailer.
Lots of flash, things go boom, no information. Yep, that’s a JJ Abrams movie all right. Just listen to sound around 1:11. Sounds a lot like the monster from Lost to me. That’s my prediction. Cloverfield is Lost – The Movie. Near the end it says “In Theaters 1-18-08″. When is Lost supposed to end? 2010 isn’t it? What would be a great way to build interest in the last couple of seasons of a show that will probably have been on 2 years too long by then? That’s right, a movie.
Ethan Haas, Van Mantra and whatever other name that pops up will probably be anagrams. Just like Ethan Rom and many other names found in Lost.
I just hope Locke is in it. As long as John Locke survives, screw the rest of ‘em.
What do you think? Is JJ Abrams in a rut or what?

So if you want to help out, let ‘em know. It a great thing they’re doin’.
Hello folks, my name is Master Saji, or just Saji, if you prefer, and today, I’m here to tell you about Burning Dragons of Tyria’s, AKA DRGN, future plans for Pink Day in LA (June 16th, 2007) which is to help raise breast cancer awareness.First off, I’d like point out some small, but crucial facts about [tag]Breast Cancer[/tag];
Each year, 182,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer and 43,300 die. One woman in eight either has or will develop breast [tag]cancer[/tag] in her lifetime. In addition, 1,600 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 400 will die this year. Yes, men can also get breast cancer.
If detected early, the five-year survival rate for breast cancer exceeds 95%.
Now, like I said, we’re doing this to raise awareness. “But October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, why in June?” Well, it’s a little spontaneous, but the truth is you shouldn’t have to wait for one month to help support to breast cancer awareness. We decided June 16th since school will be out and hopefully more people will be willing to help us and more importantly, one of our guild member’s mother is a breast cancer survivor and June 16th is her birthday.
Anyway, the big day that this event will take place will be June 16th, 2007, and will be in Lion’s Arch International District 1 (and 2 and 3 and so on if need be). Our goal is to get as many people to wear [tag]pink[/tag] armor to show their support as we can in the LA international district. To do this, DRGN members will hand out 1 purple and 1 red dye (a general combo to make a pink-like color) to each person, who (or so we hope), will then dye his/her chest armor pink and join in the merriment.
We want to make Pink Day in LA as much of a success as possible. If you or your guild is interested in helping out, let us know! But the easiest, best, and most appreciated way for you to help is to be in LA on June 16th and either bring pink armor of your own or get pink dye from us, and join us in raising awareness of breast cancer. Expect things to get started around Noon EST.
*UPDATE*We’re also starting to collect silver dyes since Red+Silver is another common mixture to get a pinkish color.
